According to a new study, you shouldn’t choose the diet plan for you, if you want to lose weight. Researchers found that people who choose their own diet plan will lose more weight that those who didn’t choose it. But, this is just in the beginning. After 48 weeks, people who choose their own diet plan will lose 12.5 pounds. However, people who were assigned to that specific diet plan will lose 15 pounds. The information comes from Reuters.
The study included 207 people. All of them were obese adults. They had to answer do they like specific food or they don’t. They had to choose between more than 70 different types of food. They had to say which food they ‘’ like extremely’’ and which they ‘’dislike extremely’’. Thanks to the results, researchers were able to determine does people like low-fat or low carb diets. After this, all participants were divided on comparison and choice groups.
People from the choice group had to choose the diet they want. But, people from comparison group were assigned to one diet. Also, people from the choice group could choose another diet after 12 weeks, but only a few people switch it. The results were very interesting. Researchers believed that people who chose their diet will lose more weight, but they didn’t. The explanation is simple. People eat more food they like.
So, if you are planning to go on a diet, you shouldn’t choose it. It is better to seek for a professional help or to let someone else choose the diet for you. In this case, that person must be a profession or have a lot of experience.
