Key Elements of a Proper Diet

A nutrition program and a balanced diet are vital when it comes to tuning your body. However, the two do not have to be exceedingly restrictive. They are inly meant to act as some sort of basic guidelines aimed at helping you achieve your full health potential. So, what are the key elements that make up a perfect diet and nutrition program?

Medium Level Carbohydrates

Most people become conscious weight and forget all about pasta, bread, rice, cereals and potatoes. Such carbohydrates give the body energy as well as vitality. However, they should be taken with moderation.

Low fat

Fats, and especially those from oils, margarine, butter plus cream, have very high amounts of calories. They pose a potential threat to the body, specifically the heart. Therefore, a proper diet should be one that cuts down on fatty substances.

Food Variety

A proper diet and nutrition is one that maintains a perfect balance between minerals, vitamins, proteins and carbohydrates. Each and every meal should therefore contain a wide variety of foods so as to take in nutrients from all 4 macro nutrient groups. It is all about maintaining a balanced diet.

High on Fiber

Fiber is largely indigestible but very important to the body. It prevents gallstones, bowel cancer, helps maintain a smooth digestive system and above all keeps one’s weight in good condition. The best sources of fiber include whole wheat and grain breads.

Limited Consumption of Salt and Sugars

If taken in excess, sugars introduce waste kilojoules into the body which end up displacing other vital components. They also bring about tooth decay and conditions such as diabetes. Salt on the other hand contains high levels of sodium which is not good for the body.
